MARIA COHEN

Fractured Self
The work explores the physical and emotional limits of the body, focusing on tensions between space, control, and autonomy. Improvised movement and looping imagery create a sense of repetition and unpredictability, heightened by a layered, evolving soundscape.
Paintings line the surrounding walls, each individually lit to encourage intimate encounters with the viewer. A documentary-style video woven into the space presents fragments of everyday life through spontaneous imagery, handwritten notes, and personal reflections. In the black room, digitally printed eyes envelop the viewer, surrounding them on all sides.
